Course: Sauce
Materials
- Cucumber 1
- Hung Yoghurt 500 grams
- Galic paste 1/2 tsp
- Mint leaves 5 to 6
- Lemon juice 1/2 tsp
- black pepper 1/2 tsp or to taste
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- First, you need to wash and peel a cucumber and grate it finely. Then, wrap it in a muslin cloth and squeeze out as much water as you can. Transfer the grated cucumber to a large bowl.
- Next, you need to add 500 grams of hung yoghurt to the bowl. Hung yoghurt is yoghurt that has been strained to remove the whey and make it thicker. You can use a cheesecloth or a fine sieve to strain regular yoghurt overnight in the refrigerator.
- Then, you need to add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic paste, 5 to 6 mint leaves (chopped), 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper and salt to taste. Whisk everything together until well combined.
- Your tzatziki sauce is ready! Use it with your Shawarma filling or you can also serve it chilled or at room temperature with bread, crackers, salads, grilled meats or vegetables. Enjoy!
